Terms of Use

Last updated: August 8, 2026.

By using this site, you agree to these terms. The short version is below.

The content

The lessons, essays, diagrams, and other material on this site are our work. You are welcome to read it, share it, link to it, and reference it in your own work; if you reuse a substantial passage or a diagram, credit AI-Native Product Management and link back. If you want to use substantial parts of it in a commercial product or paid course, ask us first.

The artifacts are the exception, in your favor. The templates on the Artifacts page exist to be copied: download them, fill them in, and use the filled-in documents inside your own products and companies, commercial or not, with no permission or credit needed. The ask-first rule above covers republishing our material as content, meaning reselling the chapters or the blank templates themselves, or building a paid course from them.

Contributions

Field Notes is open to other builders, and you are welcome to send us a note by email. If you do, you confirm that the work is your own and does not break anyone else's rights. You keep your own rights to it, and you give us ongoing permission to publish, edit, and adapt it on this site, in the newsletter, and in excerpts that promote it, with credit to you as the author. Sending a note does not oblige us to publish it, and contributions are unpaid. Please do not email anything confidential, since we cannot treat a submission as a secret.

No advice

Nothing on this site is professional advice. Not legal advice, not financial advice, not medical advice. The Builder's Stack teaches a mental model for building software with AI. Apply it with your own judgment, and with help from qualified professionals where that matters.

Whose views these are

This site is a personal project by its two authors. The opinions, lessons, and material here are our own and do not represent our employers. Nothing on this site is affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced on behalf of any company we work for.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is. We aim for it to be accurate, useful, and continuously improving, but we make no guarantees about uptime, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose. Use it at your own risk.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site.

AI in the content

Some chapters mention that we used Claude Code to build this site. The site collects nothing from you and sends nothing to any AI service: the newsletter runs on Substack, and there is no user-facing AI feature. The AI was used by us, to build the site, not by the site, to do anything to you.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site evolves. The current version always lives at /terms.

If anything here is unclear or you spot a problem, tell us; we would rather fix it than have a misunderstanding.
